## In short

Hokkaido pre-wedding photos cost $800 for 30 minutes and 15 edited photos, 5 with detailed retouching, delivered within seven days; outfit changes are added with extra hours at $150 each. Winter sessions run in Biei from December to March; summer sessions start at Farm Tomita before 08:00 in early to mid-July, when the lavender peaks.

A pre-wedding shoot in Hokkaido is really two different products, six months apart: a white gown against white snow, where the challenge is keeping the bride warm, or a gown in the striped flower fields of Furano, where the challenge is beating the coaches. Both are far from Sapporo, so the shoot is built around one night in Biei or Furano.

## How the shoot is planned

The 30 minutes cover one place; the rest of each route is added with extra hours. Summer: Farm Tomita at opening light, gown and suit between the lavender rows with the Tokachi range behind; then, with extra hours, Shikisai-no-oka 30 minutes north for the wide rainbow fields (entry paid) and the Shirogane Blue Pond for a quieter second outfit. Winter: the bride dresses at the hotel with thermal layers and snow boots under the hem, and the session runs from the car — a roadside snowfield first, then, with extra hours, a birch line and the Blue Pond light-up at dusk. A down coat goes back on between every set.

## Timing

For lavender, early to mid-July, starting before 08:00: by 10:00 the coaches arrive at Farm Tomita, and by August the lavender is cut. Shikisai-no-oka’s other flowers run June to September. For snow, January and February are most reliable; book the Biei hotel early, as rooms near the Blue Pond are few. Late September to October brings early autumn colour in the Daisetsuzan foothills, a quieter third option.

## Frequently asked questions

### How much is a pre-wedding shoot in Hokkaido?

$800 for 30 minutes and 15 edited photos, 5 retouched in detail; outfit changes need extra hours at $150 each. Dress rental, hair and makeup ($100), Shikisai-no-oka entry and a night in Biei or Furano are extra.

### Is a strapless gown possible in the snow?

Yes, for a few minutes at a time. We frame the gown shots first while you are warm, keep a coat over your shoulders until the count, and use heat packs at the back of the bodice. A long-sleeved or capelet gown lets you stay out longer.

### Can we shoot in the lavender rows?

At Farm Tomita you stay on the paths between beds, which is where the rows line up best anyway. Private fields along the road are crops, not gardens: we do not enter them, and a gown train should be lifted on the paths so it does not catch on the plants.

### Where do we change outfits?

At your hotel in Biei or Furano for the first look and, if you add hours for a second, in the car or a café restroom we arrange. In winter we keep the car heated so the change happens in the warm.
