## In short

A Mt Fuji pre-wedding photoshoot costs $800 for 30 minutes and 15 edited photos, 5 with detailed retouching, delivered within seven days. The session covers one spot — the Kawaguchiko shore at sunrise — with hair and make-up ($100) starting in your hotel before dawn; a second outfit somewhere sheltered is added with extra hours at $150 each.

A Fuji pre-wedding is a weather problem before it is a styling one. The summit can be clear at 06:30 and gone by 09:00, so the 30-minute session goes to the frame that needs the mountain, at the lake, while it is there. The part that does not — a second outfit, a quieter shore, a hotel garden — is added with extra hours and comes after. Hair and make-up start in your room before dawn, and the spot is fixed only the evening before.

## How the shoot is planned

The make-up artist knocks about two hours before sunrise. In the gown and suit you go first to the north shore of Lake Kawaguchi, where the photographer works the wide reflections while the light is low and the lake is flat; a long coat stays within reach between frames. That is the 30-minute session. With extra hours you then change at the hotel — into kimono, or a lighter second dress — and drive to a second location: the quieter Lake Motosu shore, 30 minutes west, or your hotel’s own garden if it faces the mountain, finishing with close portraits and details, rings and hands, which need no view at all.

## Timing

December to February gives the clearest mountain and the full snowcap, with sunrise near 06:50 and lakeside temperatures often below −5 °C — wear thermal layers under the suit and plan heat packs for the gown. Mid-April adds cherry blossom at the lakes but more haze and more people. Early to mid-November puts red maples in the foreground. From June to September we only plan a Fuji pre-wedding with two nights booked, so the mountain frames can move to the second morning.

## Frequently asked questions

### How much does a Mt Fuji pre-wedding shoot cost in total?

The shoot is $800 for 30 minutes and 15 edited photos; a second outfit and location need extra hours at $150 each. We recommend hair and make-up ($100) and, for a second outfit in kimono, rental and dressing at $55 per person. A Mandarin-speaking assistant on the day is $70. Your hotel and transport to the lakes are separate.

### What if Mt Fuji is hidden on our pre-wedding day?

If you stay two nights, the mountain frames move to the second morning and the first becomes the lake, the second outfit and the details. With one night, we wait at the shore as long as your booked time allows; the photos will then be of the lakes and the season rather than the summit, and we tell you that the evening before.

### Can we wear the gown at Chureito Pagoda?

We advise against it. It is 398 steps up from the shrine, the deck is shared and fills before dawn in season, setups on it are not welcome, and Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine below is an active shrine. A kimono with a short walk works better there; the gown belongs at the lakeshore.

### Where do we change between the gown and the second outfit?

At your hotel, which is why we ask you to stay on the lakes rather than drive in. The route passes back through it after the sunrise frames, and if you add a second outfit, 20 minutes of the extra time go to the change and a touch-up.
