## In short

Okinawa pre-wedding photos cost $800 for 30 minutes and 15 edited photos, 5 retouched in detail, delivered within seven days. The base session is one spot: Kouri Island in the high sun for the water colour, or Sesoko Beach just before sunset. To shoot both, with an outfit change and the 25-minute drive between them, add extra hours at $150 each.

Okinawa gives a pre-wedding shoot something the mainland cannot: the same afternoon holds turquoise water at midday and a sunset over the sea, because the north-west coast faces the East China Sea. The base 30 minutes covers one of them; with extra hours you can have both, if the session is planned backwards from sunset and the gown is chosen for sand, wind and humidity.

## How the shoot is planned

The base 30 minutes is one look in one place: gown and suit in the Kouri shallows with the bridge behind, while the sun is still high enough for colour — or Sesoko’s long west-facing beach, with the veil in the evening wind as the sun touches the sea. With extra hours the route joins them: a change in the car or at your hotel, a second look on the Tinu Beach rocks, then the drive to Sesoko Island for a walk at the waterline and silhouettes against the Sesoko Bridge.

## Timing

April to early May and October to November are the best months: warm, clear and calmer, with sunset around 18:00 in autumn. January and February are cool enough that a suit jacket is comfortable and Sesoko Beach is nearly empty, and kanhizakura blooms in Nago at the same time. Avoid the rainy season, roughly May to late June, and keep a spare day from July to October for typhoons.

## Frequently asked questions

### How much is a pre-wedding shoot in Okinawa?

$800 for 30 minutes and 15 edited photos in one look, 5 with detailed retouching; extra hours at $150 each add a second spot and an outfit change. Hair and makeup is $100 and worth it here: wind and humidity undo loose styles, so the stylist sets an updo that survives the beach.

### What kind of gown works on the beach?

Light chiffon or tulle that moves in the wind, with a train you can lift; heavy satin and long cathedral trains drag wet sand. Salt water stains, so rinse the hem with fresh water the same evening. Barefoot is fine on the sand, but bring sandals for the rocks.

### Can we add ryuso, the Ryukyu costume?

Yes, but in Naha rather than the north: studios near Shuri Castle rent and dress ryuso, and the castle’s stone walls and the Shureimon gate are the backdrop. It is a separate morning, as Naha is about 1 h 45 min from Kouri Island.

### What if it rains or a typhoon comes?

Showers in Okinawa often pass within the hour, so we wait them out where we can. A typhoon is forecast days ahead: we move the shoot to another day of your stay at no charge, or refund the session in full.
