## In short

A proposal photographer in Asakusa costs $280 for 30 minutes: the moment itself, shot from hiding, and portraits right afterwards, with 15 edited photos within 3 days. The two spots that work are Senso-ji lit at night and the Sumida riverside at blue hour. We agree a signal and timeline with you beforehand.

A proposal needs a spot that is quiet at the moment you kneel, and in Asakusa that rules out the daytime approach entirely. What remains is better: Senso-ji after nine at night, its hall and pagoda lit and the grounds nearly deserted, or the Sumida riverside promenade just south of Azuma Bridge as the Skytree changes colour. Both let the photographer stand at a distance among other people without being noticed.

## How the shoot is planned

For the temple version, you arrive through Kaminarimon on your own after nine; the photographer is already inside, near Hozomon, with a long lens. You stop at the marked spot between the gate and the main hall — we send a photo of it the day before — and the signal is a hand in a pocket. After the answer, the photographer walks over and the rest of the half-hour goes to portraits at the lit pagoda and hall. The river version follows the same pattern on the promenade, with the Skytree behind.

## Timing

The temple lighting runs until about 11 pm, and the grounds are at their emptiest between nine and ten on weekdays. The riverside works best for the twenty minutes after sunset; in December that is around 4:50 pm, so a winter riverside proposal can be followed by dinner. Avoid New Year’s week, the Sanja Matsuri weekend in May and the July fireworks evening, all of which pack Asakusa late into the night.

## Frequently asked questions

### How much does a proposal photographer in Asakusa cost?

$280 covers scouting the exact spot beforehand, then 30 minutes on the night: the proposal from hiding, portraits afterwards and 15 edited photos within 3 days. Adding a proposal video for the moment itself is a separate $370 booking with its own videographer, as one person cannot do both well.

### Will my partner notice the photographer?

Unlikely. At night the photographer stands in the shadow beside Hozomon among other visitors with cameras, using a long lens from 20–30 metres. We send you a description of their clothes so you know where to look — and not to look.

### What if it rains on the night?

Light rain is workable at the temple — the lit hall reflects in the wet stone — and we bring clear umbrellas. In heavy rain we move to another evening of your stay at no charge, and tell you by 3 pm so you can change the plan quietly.
