## In short

A night photoshoot in Shibuya costs from $240 for 30 minutes after dark, with 15 edited photos in a private gallery within 3 days, colour-graded for screen light. We work handheld at the scramble crossing and from the station corridor windows above it; the side streets need an extra hour ($150). Tripods are not allowed, so long exposures rest on ledges.

After dark Shibuya needs no lighting kit: three giant screens over the scramble crossing throw colour onto faces from above, and the shop signs of Center Gai fill in from the side. That is why the night shoot is built here rather than around a viewpoint. The session follows the traffic lights — each walk phase is under a minute — so the frames are staged on the kerb and taken on the move, never by stopping in the road.

## How the shoot is planned

We meet at the Hachiko exit and start on the corner beside the station, where a short telephoto stacks the crowd behind you as the lights change; we repeat that frame over three or four cycles until the walk-through is right. Next we go up into the corridor between JR and the Keio Inokashira line, whose windows look down on the whole X of zebra lines — the one frame that shows the crossing as a pattern. Back at street level, the last part is a slow-shutter set: you stand still on the pavement edge while the crowd streaks past, with the camera braced on a railing. With an extra hour, we add the first block of Center Gai under the signs.

## Timing

Book for about 45 minutes after sunset, when the sky still has some blue behind the screens: roughly 5:15 pm in December and 7:45 pm in late June. Weeknights are calmer than Friday and Saturday. In the rainy season, June to mid-July, wet asphalt mirrors the screens and we bring clear umbrellas. We do not book Halloween week or New Year’s Eve, when the area around the station is closed to gatherings.

## What is included

- 15 edited photos

- Private online gallery within 3 days

- Shibuya Sky: Timed tickets roughly ¥2,000–3,400, sunset slots sell out weeks ahead. Tripods, selfie sticks and bags are banned on the open-air deck; professional shoots need the operator’s prior approval, so we treat this as a personal visit with light gear

## Frequently asked questions

### How much is a night photoshoot in Shibuya?

From $240 for 30 minutes and 15 edited photos, delivered within 3 days. Travel within Shibuya is included. A 15–30 second vertical reel filmed between frames is $120 extra, and 24-hour express delivery $80.

### Will strangers be in our photos?

Yes, as blur and background — the crowd is what makes the crossing read as Shibuya. We keep you sharp and the people around you soft, and we never make a stranger the subject of a frame.

### What should we wear for a Shibuya night shoot?

Something with a clear shape and one light or bright element, so you separate from a dark street: a pale coat, a red jacket, white trainers. All-black outfits disappear after dark. Avoid tiny patterns, which flicker under LED screens.

### What if it rains?

Light rain helps: the road reflects the screens and clear umbrellas catch the colour. In a downpour we agree a covered plan in advance — the arcades of Center Gai and the station corridors — or move to another evening of your stay if one is free.
