Explore packagesTokyo and Kyoto, district by district
Same city, a different hour
Asakusa and Fushimi Inari work before 8 a.m., Shibuya and Shinjuku after dark, Arashiyama in the first hour of light before the tour buses arrive. Each district has its own page, its own spots and its own rules.

Tokyo
Shibuya
Shibuya is the Tokyo of motion — the scramble crossing empties and refills every couple of minutes, and the photograph is timed to the lights rather than to the sun.

Tokyo
Shinjuku
Shinjuku gives two shoots in one ward: the smoky lantern alleys east of the tracks after dark, and one of the city’s great gardens a ten-minute walk south by day.

Tokyo
Asakusa
Asakusa is where Tokyo wears kimono: dozens of rental shops sit within a few minutes of Kaminarimon, and Senso-ji’s grounds are open before the first shop lifts its shutter.

Tokyo
Ginza
Ginza is Tokyo dressed up: wide pavements, flagship architecture and, on weekend afternoons, a main street closed to traffic so you can stand in the middle of it.

Kyoto
Gion
Gion is shot at dawn and on public streets only: since 2024 its private lanes carry a ¥10,000 photography-fine sign, and the stone slopes up to the Yasaka Pagoda are only empty before seven.

Kyoto
Arashiyama
Arashiyama’s bamboo grove is a 400-metre path that holds a few dozen people before it looks full — so the shoot is timed to the first train, not the sunrise.

Kyoto
Fushimi Inari
Fushimi Inari never closes and charges nothing, so the empty torii tunnel belongs to whoever is on the mountain first — usually before eight.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a shoot cost?
Prices are fixed and published in US dollars, starting at $195. Every package starts from a 30-minute session and includes the photographer, professional editing and a private online gallery — 15 edited photos for a photoshoot. Kimono rental with dressing ($55 per person), hair & make-up, an extra hour ($150) and the other 4 add-ons are optional and priced upfront. If a venue charges its own photography fee, we tell you before you confirm.
When is the best time for cherry blossom, autumn leaves or snow?
Sakura peaks in Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka in late March to early April, at Kawaguchiko in mid-April and in Hokkaido in late April to early May. Maples turn in Kyoto from mid-November to early December and in Tokyo from late November. Hokkaido has reliable snow from December to March. Peak dates move by a week or more each year, so we check the forecast for your dates when you enquire.
Can you photograph us at Mt Fuji?
Yes. Fuji is clearest in the early morning between October and February; summer haze often hides it completely. Sunrise shoots at Kawaguchiko start before dawn, and if the mountain is clouded in we offer to move the date at no cost.
Can we shoot in Gion, at shrines and at temples?
In Gion we shoot on public streets — Shirakawa, Tatsumi Bridge, Yasaka Shrine, Ninenzaka at dawn — because the private lanes now carry a ¥10,000 photography fine sign. Many shrines and temples ban tripods, commercial shoots or photography inside halls, and some charge a fee for pre-wedding shoots. We check the venue’s rules before you book, and we never photograph geiko or maiko without their consent.
How soon do I get my photos and video?
Most photo galleries arrive within 3 days, or within 24 hours with express delivery ($80). Pre-wedding, elopement and wedding galleries take longer — up to 3 weeks. Reels are delivered within 5 days. Films take up to 8 weeks.
Is my date booked when I send the form?
Not yet. The form is a request: we check a photographer’s availability for your date and place and the venue rules, then send a written quote. Nothing is charged until you confirm it.
What about rain, the rainy season or a typhoon?
The rainy season runs from June to mid-July everywhere except Hokkaido, and typhoons come from August to October (Okinawa from July). If rain or wind spoils the day — or grounds the drone — we reschedule at no extra cost.

Finding a photographer for a week in Japan usually means messaging five Instagram accounts, getting five prices and discovering on the day that the temple you chose does not allow tripods. This inverts that order. You choose the place and the kind of shoot, you see a fixed price in US dollars before you commit, and the photographer is based in Japan, with the venue rules checked before the day.
19 places are covered: 12 cities and regions — Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Hakone, Mt Fuji and Kawaguchiko, Nikko, Hiroshima, Miyajima, Kanazawa, Hokkaido and Okinawa — plus 7 districts with pages of their own — Shibuya, Shinjuku, Asakusa and Ginza in Tokyo; Gion, Arashiyama and Fushimi Inari in Kyoto — because Asakusa at 7 a.m. and Shibuya after dark are different shoots.
What decides a shoot here is the calendar and the clock. Cherry blossom in Tokyo and Kyoto peaks for about a week in late March or early April; maples in Kyoto turn from mid-November; Hokkaido has reliable snow from December to March. Fushimi Inari and Arashiyama are quiet before 8 a.m. and crowded by 10. Since 2024 Gion’s private lanes carry a ¥10,000 photography fine sign, so we shoot on its public streets instead.
Photo, video and drone are booked the same way: 29 services from $195, most photo galleries within 3 days, reels within 5 days. Drone work is flown by operators who handle aircraft registration and MLIT flight approval — filed about ten business days ahead, with the landowner’s consent — and never over temples, shrines or city centres. Nothing is due to get a quote, and if rain or a typhoon cancels the day, the shoot moves at no cost.
