About this shoot

Thirty minutes, forty-five seconds

30–45 s film + 15 s vertical cut

Thirty minutes of filming become a 30 to 45 second film, plus a 15-second vertical cut for the phone. That ratio is normal: each scene needs a wide, a close-up and a moving shot, and only the best few seconds of each survive the edit. The shoot is planned like a short story — arriving, walking, a meal or a view, a quiet moment — so the film has a shape rather than being a sequence of poses. A longer story across several places is filmed with extra hours at $150 each.

Filming in Japan is done handheld on a gimbal. Tripods are banned at many temples and stations, and some places, including several Kyoto temples, prohibit commercial filming without prior application; we confirm the venue’s rules when booking. Early mornings help here too, since a film with crowds behind you is hard to edit cleanly.

Music is licensed for personal social use, so the film can be posted without being muted. Aerial shots can be added with the drone add-on, but only where flights are allowed — never over city centres, temples or crowds.

You receive the film and the vertical cut within 7 days, in full resolution for keeping and in a compressed version for sharing.

Frequently asked questions: Travel film

Can we choose the music?

From a licensed library, yes — send us a few tracks you like and we find something close. Commercial pop songs are blocked or muted on most platforms, so we do not cut to them.

Is there sound, or only music?

Both. We record ambient sound — a temple bell, a train door, footsteps on gravel — and mix it under the music. Spoken lines can be recorded with a small clip microphone if you want them.
