Finding a photographer for a trip to Japan tends to mean a week of DMs, a price that changes after the shoot, and a temple that turns out not to allow tripods. We fixed the order — the price is agreed first, in writing, in US dollars, and it does not move.

Our mission
Travel photography, planned around the light and the season
We book photographers, videographers and drone operators based in Japan — the drone operators handle aircraft registration and MLIT flight approval — and plan each shoot around the place’s hours and rules. A clear price from the start, most photo galleries within 3 days; video and drone in 5 days to 8 weeks, depending on the shoot, and your money back if we cannot deliver what was agreed.
In Japan the gap between a good shoot and a wasted one is often an hour and a week: Fushimi Inari’s gates at 7 a.m. against the same gates at 11, Kyoto’s maples in the third week of November against the first. So we built the opposite of a DM search: photographers based in Japan, chosen on their published work, and a booking where the price is agreed first.
Each shoot is planned before the day: which shrines ban tripods, which temples need an application for a pre-wedding shoot, why Gion’s private lanes are off limits since 2024, and where to go when the rainy season washes out a morning. That is worked out in advance, not from a hotel room on the morning of the shoot.

How do you choose your photographers?
We work with professionals who live and work in Japan, and look at their published work rather than a portfolio made for the occasion. Drone work goes only to operators who handle aircraft registration and MLIT flight approval.
Is the price really fixed?
Yes. It is agreed in US dollars before you book and covers the shoot, editing, delivery and travel within the place you booked. Kimono rental, hair and make-up, temple photo fees and venue tickets are not included and are quoted separately, before you confirm.
When do I get my photos?
In a private online gallery: most photo galleries within 3 days; video and drone in 5 days to 8 weeks, depending on the shoot. The exact window is on each service page — a wedding gallery takes three weeks, a wedding film eight.
What if I’m not satisfied?
If we cannot deliver what was agreed when you booked, you get your money back. If rain, a typhoon or cloud over Fuji cancels the slot, the shoot moves to another day at no cost.
Which places do you cover?
Nineteen across Japan: Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Hakone, Mt Fuji and Kawaguchiko, Nikko, Hiroshima, Miyajima, Kanazawa, Hokkaido and Okinawa; plus Shibuya, Shinjuku, Asakusa and Ginza in Tokyo, and Gion, Arashiyama and Fushimi Inari in Kyoto.
Can we communicate in Chinese?
Yes. Enquiries from our Chinese pages are answered in Chinese on WeChat, and a Mandarin-speaking assistant can be added for the day of the shoot.

This is a booking service rather than a studio. Nobody is flown in for your shoot; we book photographers, videographers and drone operators based in Japan. What we take responsibility for is the part of a booking that usually goes wrong — the price, the schedule, the venue rules and the delivery.
Photographers are chosen on published work rather than a portfolio assembled for the occasion. A Kyoto portfolio is easy to fill with one empty shot of Yasaka Pagoda at dawn; published work shows what someone delivers on an ordinary Saturday in cherry-blossom week, with crowds at Kiyomizu-dera by 9 a.m. and forty minutes of usable light. That is the useful question.
What is promised is deliberately narrow and easy to check. The price is agreed in writing in US dollars and does not move. The number of edited photographs is stated per service. The delivery window is stated per service — three days for most photo shoots. If rain, a typhoon or cloud over Fuji cancels the slot, the shoot moves at no cost.
If we cannot deliver what was agreed, you get your money back rather than an argument. Standing behind the result is why we are careful about whom we book.
