Couple photoshoot in Ginza

In short

A couple photoshoot in Ginza costs $220 for 30 minutes and 15 edited photos within 3 days. On a weekend we use the Chuo-dori pedestrian zone before it reopens to traffic; on a weekday we shoot the Wako corner at dusk, and an extra hour ($150) adds the Yurakucho tracks. Smart-casual or evening wear suits these streets best.

Why here

Why choose Couple photoshoot in Ginza?

Ginza suits couples who would rather look like themselves on a good evening out than in a themed costume. Its signature frame is only possible part of the week: on weekend afternoons Chuo-dori closes to cars, and you can walk down the middle of Tokyo’s smartest street with the flagships rising on both sides. On weekdays, the same hour at dusk belongs to the lit Wako clock and the brick arches of Yurakucho.

How the shoot is planned

How a session in Ginza is planned

01

The route

Weekend version: meet at 8-chome half an hour before the pedestrian zone closes and walk north up the centre line towards the 4-chome crossing, stopping where the street vanishes behind you. The Wako clock closes the walk. Weekday version: side streets of 5-chome as the windows come on, the Wako corner from the opposite pavement with the tower lit behind; with an extra hour, then ten minutes on foot to the Yurakucho arches, where the trains overhead and the lantern light make the final, looser frames.

02

The timing

The pedestrian zone runs from noon on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays until 6 pm from April to September and 5 pm from October to March, and is cancelled in rain or for events. That makes a winter Saturday ideal: the street closes at five, dusk is around 4:30, and both coincide. On weekdays, start about twenty minutes before sunset. Late November adds the gold ginkgo of nearby Hibiya Park if you want a second backdrop.

FAQ — Couple photoshoot in Ginza

How much is a couple photoshoot in Ginza?

$220 for 30 minutes, a route planned for your date and 15 edited photos in a private gallery within 3 days. Adding Hibiya Park or Tokyo Station for a second look is an extra hour at $150.

Can we stand in the middle of Chuo-dori for photos?

During the weekend pedestrian zone, yes — that is the point of it. Tripods, chairs and stands are banned and police patrol, so we work handheld and step aside when the zone fills. On weekdays the road is a normal traffic street and the frames stay on the pavement.

What should we wear for Ginza?

Something you would wear to a good dinner. Dark tailoring, a coat in winter and one strong colour between the two of you read well against glass and stone. Kimono is unusual on these streets; if you want it, the Kabukiza frontage suits it better.
