Why here

Why choose Couple photoshoot in Asakusa?

For a couple, Asakusa offers two moods a few hundred metres apart: the lantern-and-gate Tokyo of Senso-ji, and the open river at Azuma Bridge where the Skytree and the Asahi Beer Hall’s golden flame sit across the water. The base half-hour picks one of them; with an extra hour an evening session links them in that order, so the temple frames happen in daylight and the bridge at blue hour. Couples who have never been photographed together get direction throughout — walking, not standing still.

How the shoot is planned

How the shoot runs around Kaminarimon

01

The route

With the extra hour, start at Kaminarimon an hour before sunset, then walk Nakamise against the flow towards Hozomon, stopping where the stalls thin out. The pagoda and main hall come next, with the light now low and warm on the vermilion. From the hall we cut back to Kaminarimon-dori, where rickshaw pullers wait; ten minutes in a rickshaw makes a sequence of its own. The last twenty minutes are on Azuma Bridge, two minutes from the station: the two of you on the pedestrian side, the river below and the Skytree turning blue behind. On its own, that bridge sequence is the base 30-minute session.

02

The timing

Book the slot that ends twenty minutes after sunset: about 4:30 pm in December, close to 7 pm in June. Weekday evenings are calmer than weekends, when Nakamise stays packed until the shops close around seven. In late March and early April, Sumida Park’s cherries line both banks next to the bridge, though the promenade is crowded from noon. Avoid the last Saturday of July, when the Sumida River fireworks close the riverbank.

FAQ — Couple photoshoot in Asakusa

How much does a couple photoshoot in Asakusa cost?

$220 for 30 minutes and 15 edited photos in a private gallery within 3 days. Common extras are kimono rental and dressing at $55 each, an extra hour at $150 to cover both the temple and the bridge or to add Kappabashi or the Skytree area, and the rickshaw fare, which you agree with the puller before setting off.

Should we wear kimono or our own clothes?

Either suits Asakusa. Kimono fits the temple and the rickshaw; your own clothes suit the bridge and the river better and avoid the 5–6 pm return deadline. Some couples dress in kimono for the temple half and keep the evening in their own clothes — that needs the extra hour.

Is the rickshaw ride worth adding?

For couples it usually is, because it gives candid frames of you laughing rather than posing. We walk or jog alongside on the short loop near Kaminarimon. Fares are set by the rickshaw company and paid to them directly; we only plan where it fits in the route.
