Why here

Why choose Japan photoshoot in Asakusa?

Not every Asakusa session needs a kimono. In your own clothes the district reads differently: the temple becomes the backdrop to a trip rather than a costume set, and you are free to add places a kimono would not suit — Kappabashi’s knife and plastic-food shops, the river and the Skytree, the low streets of Kuramae. This is the session for a first visit to Tokyo that wants one recognisable place done properly.

How the shoot is planned

How the shoot runs around Kaminarimon

01

The route

The morning version: Kaminarimon at 7 and Nakamise with its shutters down fill the base half-hour; with an extra hour we go on to the pagoda and hall, then a ten-minute walk west to Kappabashi as the kitchen shops open around ten, under the giant chef’s head on the Niimi building. The evening version reverses direction: the river and Azuma Bridge at sunset, then, with the extra hour, back through Kaminarimon once the lantern is lit, and the main hall and pagoda illuminated after dark, when the grounds are nearly empty.

02

The timing

Weekday mornings before nine and evenings after seven are the quiet ends of the day. Kappabashi only works on weekdays — many shops close on Sundays. Senso-ji’s buildings are lit until about 11 pm, so a night session after the shops shut is a strong option in winter, when dusk falls before five. In the June–July rainy season, wet stone and lantern reflections make light rain an advantage rather than a cancellation.

FAQ — Japan photoshoot in Asakusa

What is included in the $220 Asakusa photoshoot?

Thirty minutes with the photographer, a route planned before the day, a start time chosen for the light and crowds on your date, and 15 edited photos in a private gallery within 3 days. Travel within central Tokyo is included; the add-ons are an extra hour ($150) or 24-hour delivery ($80).

Can we add the Skytree to the same session?

From Azuma Bridge the Skytree is already in frame. Going to its base in Oshiage is a 20-minute walk or one train stop, which fits only with the extra hour. The observation decks are ticketed and do not suit a staged shoot.

Is Asakusa too crowded for photos?

Between ten and five, especially on weekends, yes for wide frames. That is why we do not book those hours for this session. Outside them, Kaminarimon and the hall are quiet enough for full-length shots without strangers.
