The route
We meet at the Genbaku Dome-mae tram stop, about fifteen minutes from Hiroshima Station, before the school groups arrive. The 30-minute session is on the east bank of the Motoyasu River, walking south under the trees with the water beside you; the Dome stays across the river and out of the posed frames, appearing at most as a soft shape in a wide walking shot. We do not stop at the Cenotaph or the Children’s Peace Monument. With an extra hour, we walk north from the T-shaped Aioi Bridge for about fifteen minutes to Hiroshima Castle, where the moat bridges and the stone walls carry the added time: portraits with the rebuilt keep behind, laughter allowed, and quiet paths even on a weekend morning.
