Why here

Why choose Drone photo & video in Hokkaido?

This is the drone session for the place rather than for a portrait: the round caldera of Lake Toya with its island, or the colour bands of a Furano flower farm seen from above. Hokkaido allows it more readily than anywhere else we work, but the open land is still somebody’s land, and parts of the shoreline sit in a national park.

How the shoot is planned

How a session in Hokkaido is planned

01

The route

At Lake Toya we launch from a consenting property above the south shore at sunrise and climb until the whole caldera and Nakajima island fit in frame; a second flight follows the shore with snow on the land and open water beside it, since the lake does not freeze. In Furano the flight runs over a farm that has agreed to it, tracking along the rows with the Tokachi range behind, then rising for the pattern. We stay off the paths where visitors walk.

02

The timing

Lake Toya works all year; winter gives the contrast of dark water and white shores, and calm mornings keep the reflections. For Furano, the colour is in July, lavender peaking early to mid-July and other beds lasting into September, but the farms are busiest then, so only the first hour after sunrise is quiet enough to fly without people below. Afternoon sea and lake winds are common; we decide on site.

Before you book

FAQ — Drone photo & video in Hokkaido

How much is drone filming in Hokkaido?

$470 for 30 minutes of flying, 15 edited aerial photos and a 30-second film within seven days. The permit work and landowner consent are part of that price; access fees charged by a private property, if any, are passed on at cost.

Is Lake Toya inside a national park?

Yes, it is part of Shikotsu-Toya National Park, and some shore areas restrict take-off. We use private land whose owner agrees and confirm the park and town rules for the exact spot before you book.

Can you film the Sapporo Snow Festival from the air?

No. Odori Park is in central Sapporo’s densely inhabited district and the festival is a crowd event; flights over it are not something we can offer. We film the festival from the ground and keep the drone for open country.
