The route
We meet at your hotel about 40 minutes before sunrise. On a Kawaguchiko morning the car drops you on the north shore near Oishi Park while the sky is still blue: wide frames first, the two of you small against the black lake and the white summit. As the first light turns the snowcap pink, the photographer moves in for portraits with Fuji over one shoulder, then, with an extra hour, walks you along the shore path for a looser sequence once the sun reaches the water. If the forecast sends us to Chureito instead, the 398 steps from Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine take 15–20 minutes, and we shoot handheld from the edge of the deck so nobody else loses their view.
