The route
The 30 minutes are the sunrise on the north shore of Lake Kawaguchi: the filmmaker sets up, holding a wide shot while the summit catches light, then moves to a gimbal for the two of you walking the shore. A clip microphone records a few lines you have written to each other; we keep the lake wind out of it by recording those words later in the morning, indoors. With extra hours, filming can start in your room while hair and make-up are finished — hands, the dress on its hanger, the window going pale — and after the change a second chapter goes to a quieter shore at Lake Saiko or Motosu, or to the forest roads between them, for the close, slower scenes.
