Why here

Why choose Property & resort drone in Hakone?

A Hakone property is often best understood from above: a ryokan’s roofs folded into a wooded valley, a hotel’s position above Lake Ashi, a resort’s grounds against the Sengokuhara slopes. Getting that view legally means flying from your own land with your written consent, keeping clear of guests, neighbours and roads, and staying away from the places Hakone is known for — the lake, the shrine and Owakudani are not flight locations.

How the shoot is planned

How a session in Hakone is planned

01

The route

Before the day we check the site against DID maps and the national park’s conditions, and walk the boundary with you to mark where neighbouring buildings, roads and the ropeway or bus routes come within 30 m. On the day, the first flight establishes the building in its setting — the valley, the ridge or the lake — climbing slowly from the entrance. Then we drop to low height over the grounds: the garden, the outdoor baths with nobody in them, the approach road. The last minutes are the film’s moving shots, planned in advance so the pilot stays over your land and within line of sight throughout.

02

The timing

Early morning is usually best: guest areas are empty, Hakone’s valleys are often calm, and Fuji is visible from some properties on about one winter morning in three. Mist sits in the valleys in summer, which can be atmospheric but hides the setting; October to November adds autumn colour on the slopes. We do not fly in rain or strong wind, which on the Sengokuhara plateau picks up in the afternoon, and we reschedule within your window if needed.

FAQ — Property & resort drone in Hakone

How much does drone photography of a Hakone property cost?

$730 for 30 minutes on site, 15 edited aerial photos and a 45-second aerial film within ten days. The site check, flight plan, MLIT application where needed and the written consent paperwork are included. Ground photography of rooms and baths is the separate hotel and ryokan photography service.

Can the film include Lake Ashi or the Hakone Shrine torii?

Only as a view from above your own grounds, and only if they are visible from there. We do not fly over the lake, the shrine or Owakudani, and we will not route a flight out towards them; a long lens from your land can still bring the lake into the frame.

Do guests have to leave while you fly?

No, but they must not be under the flight path. Flying over or within 30 m of people who are not part of the shoot needs separate approval, so we fly the gardens and outdoor baths in a window when they are closed, usually early morning, and keep to the building’s far side from any terrace in use.

How much notice do you need?

Three weeks. MLIT applications go in at least ten business days before the flight, and we need your site plan, the owner’s written consent if the land is not yours, and a window when guest areas are clear before we file.
