Why here

Why choose Solo travel photoshoot in Shinjuku?

For someone travelling alone, Shinjuku’s west side is the easy way in: a free observatory, wide pavements between the towers, and then the oldest, narrowest lanes in the district five minutes away. The base thirty minutes covers the observatory and the plazas below; add an extra hour and the session runs on to street level as the light drops, ending in the lantern alleys with a photographer who already knows which ones mind cameras.

How the shoot is planned

How the shoot runs around Omoide Yokocho

01

The route

We meet at the ground-floor entrance of the Metropolitan Government Building and go up after the security check. At 202 metres the windows give silhouettes against the sky and, on clear winter days, Mt Fuji to the west; it is handheld only, and we work around other visitors at the glass. Back down, the plazas and walkways between the Nishi-Shinjuku towers are wide and empty after office hours — good for walking frames with glass and steel rising behind you. With an extra hour, we finish in Omoide Yokocho by the tracks, shot from the lane ends as the yakitori grills start up.

02

The timing

Start about an hour before sunset — around 3:30 pm in December, 6 pm in June — so the observatory has daylight and, if you add an hour, the alleys have lanterns. November to February gives the best chance of Fuji from the windows and the earliest darkness. Weekday afternoons mean shorter lift queues. Some observatory days are closed for maintenance; we check the date when you book.

FAQ — Solo travel photoshoot in Shinjuku

How much is a solo travel photoshoot in Shinjuku?

$195 for 30 minutes and 15 edited photos, delivered within 3 days. The observatory is free, so there are no entry costs on this route. A Mandarin-speaking assistant can join for $70.

Will we definitely see Mt Fuji?

No. It shows on clear days from November to February, more often in the morning than late afternoon, and is almost always hidden by haze in summer. The skyline frames work either way.

Can I eat in Omoide Yokocho after the shoot?

Yes, and it is a good place to do it alone: most stalls are counters of six to ten seats. We can point you to one that takes walk-ins, but we do not photograph inside or around diners.
